Project Description

Our client is a Portuguese sports company very relevant in its community, with a recent change of the majority shareholder, which wants to integrate in its structure a Finance Director with a broad responsibility for the financial and administrative management of the company.

The Finance Director is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, investments, insurance, and audit functions of the company an all its related processes. The collaboration with and supervision of external advisors and auditors as well as internal and external representation towards stakeholders, partners, public and sportive authorities fall as well under the responsibility of the position.

The main responsibilities of the Finance Director include:

  • Organizing and executing all financial day-to-day activities, such as payments, payroll, etc.
  • Managing daily cash flow, bank accounts and investment instruments, to maintain adequate working capital and earning.
  • Organizing and executing a proper accounting process including tax compliance.
  • Preparing the annual statements together with the external service providers.
  • Supporting the Sport Director in the hiring process with budget information.
  • Creating annual budgets and following up on them.
  • Communication with the sports entities and other stakeholders; creating reports and fulfilling reporting duties.
  • Negotiating and analyzing all kinds of service and purchase contracts.

The Finance Director shall have the following skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a similar qualification and at least three years of professional experience in the financial area.

  • Good knowledge of and experience with key financial processes and accounting practices, although being a Certified Accountant (TOC) is not mandatory.

  • Proficiency in business English.

  • A strong interest in sports, however previous employment in a sports company or in the sports sector is not required.

  • An interest and practical experience in organization and project management.

  • The ability for self-organization, pragmatic thinking, and resilience in a challenging and sometimes chaotic environment.

  • Hands on mentality and good team worker.

  • The ability to move and live in the Viseu Region.
